Whimsical Cross-Stitch Book Review

One hobby that I learned this past year was how to cross-stitch. My mom has been doing it for years now and was super helpful in teaching me the ins and outs of the craft. After I practiced a few simple patterns, I started looking for a book with multiple designs that I could use to expand my skills, and I'm so happy that I found the Whimsical Cross-Stitch book by Cari Buziak.

The book's first section is an overview of materials, how-to-instructions, and different stitches to use when making these patterns. It shows you exactly what needs to be done. The detailed descriptions and clear illustrations are super helpful, especially if you are confused or have a problem stitching. Even if you know how to cross-stitch, this chapter will be a good refresher for you.

The book contains many patterns, with expertise levels ranging from beginner to advanced across five categories. The smaller patterns are easy and quick to do, with the bigger ones being more complicated and time-consuming. All the designs are cute, colorful, and, well, whimsical. Each design comes with the following:

- The color threads needed for the pattern

- A key chart with different symbols for each color thread

- A colored picture of the design

- The measurements of the stitch (how big it will be at the end)

If you're looking for a cross-stitch book that is instructional, detailed, and full of beautiful patterns, I highly recommend you check out Whimsical Cross-Stitch. In my first look-through, I bookmarked several designs that I wanted to try and made notes of the embroidery threads I would need when I went to the craft store. I've finished one pattern already and am in the process of deciding which one I want to do next.
