What I Listen to While I Craft
When I create a piece of art or work on some products for my shop, I like to have something in the background. Most of the time, it’s music of some sort, but I will also listen to videos and podcasts. Having background noise helps me stay productive and focused on the task. When I’m doing other tasks and jobs for my business, I can work well in silence, but I need to have something to listen to when it comes to creating and making.
Movie Soundtracks
For years now, this has been my go-to genre when creating products for my shop. From Hans Zimmer, Klaus Badelt, and John Williams to Michael Giacchino, Thomas Newman, and Alan Silvestri, there are so many composers that I love to listen to. The talent and passion that are put into these soundtracks are incredible. There’s just something about a film score that helps me be productive and get things done.
Disney Songs
As a Disney nerd, singing along to the classic hits is a given. I have a whole Disney playlist with songs from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” to “Coco” – and I’m always adding to it. Sometimes I’ll group ones from the same movie if I’m in the mood for something specific, and other times, I’ll have the playlist set to play things randomly. It just depends!
Podcasts & YouTube Videos
There are a few times when I am painting or drawing, and I want to listen to a person or learn more about a topic that intrigues me. When this happens, I will either play a YouTube video from one of the channels I’m subscribed to or start the next episode of the latest podcast that I’m obsessing over. The videos widely range from funny commentary channels to fellow creators and artists – I’m all over the place.
